Does Christmas still feel miles away, or are the gifts and dinners stressing you out?
Busy holidays can make it difficult to spend quality time together. As parents, we’re so busy organising everything around the winter festivities, that we often forget to take a break. You know, sit back and relax together with our family.
Whatever you have planned or are ready to buy, don’t forget that spending time together is what matters the most. Bake cookies, go outside to collect leaves or play a serious game of football. Then snuggle up on the couch and watch a movie together, as a family.
Seriously though, when was the last time you did absolutely nothing, gave your kids your undivided attention or had some one-on-one time with your wife or hubby?
Here's how my winter wonderland could help you relax a little more often
All of my playmats are designed to create more moments that focus on playing, reading or snoozing together. I've now designed one specifically for the upcoming festive season.
Let me introduce you to the latest addition to my family: the limited edition ByAlex Winter Wonderland playmat, perfect for all those afternoons spent inside. As you can see, my kids really love this mat.
Why did I make this special edition mat?
Well, just imagine exploring a magical winter wonderland on this playmat, or whilst cuddling the matching cushion. This is such a great and simple way to introduce the kids to all the fun parts of winter; from snow, to ice skating, drinking hot chocolate or simply wandering through the forest. Listen closely, as their fingers trace the meandering roads and the stories bring the different characters to life.
Talking about hot chocolate
These moments of play are most fun when paired with a hot pot of cocoa. So, grab your little ones by the hand and snuggle up together for maximum effect. Below I've also included my favourite gingerbread cookie recipe. It's a great way to bond as a family, but they're also extremely yummy. I have a hard time staying away from the cookie jar, but guess that's also part of Christmas right?
Here's that recipe, have fun baking!
Have a little extra time? Try making these to-die-for gingerbread cookies. This is my absolute favourite Rens Kroes recipe, but I use normal flour and add two extra teaspoons of brown sugar. The kids just love them. Trust me, I'm speaking from experience.
